I've career-transitioned into the spa industry. Interestingly, I often meet others who are exploring our industry, but have been hearing "tales of woe" from more seasoned spa professionals who tell them that the industry is sinking.
Should I re-think my transition? Should relatively newer spa owners close shop and bail to cut their losses now?
Would appreciate a reality check.

At the last DSA/IMSA Business Forum held in February, the message from both the expert speakers and the audience was clear. There is opportunity even in these economic times.
Day Spas that have built a strong foundation for acquiring and retaining clients can fall back on those clients to, not only hold on to their financial base, but also to grow it. Where clients are looking for value when they spend their "spa budget", they will remain loyal to the Day Spa that has helped them to integrate spa into their lifestyle and delivered quality spa services on a consistent basis. They will not risk what they have come to expect for an unknown quantity.
The lesson is clear. Keep in constant contact with your clients. Engage them. Make them an offer they can't refuse. Remind them how good you are.
